Introducing OpenAI for Singapore

OpenAI has launched "OpenAI for Singapore," a partnership with the Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI) aimed at supporting Singapore's National AI strategy. This initiative, backed by over S$300 million, will focus on three key areas: assisting organizations in deploying frontier AI to solve complex problems, developing local AI talent for the next generation, and increasing AI accessibility for individuals and businesses across Singapore. A significant component of this partnership is the establishment of OpenAI's first Applied AI Lab outside the United States in Singapore, which will create over 200 technical roles and position Singapore as a global hub for Forward-Deployed Engineers. These engineers will work directly with companies to address challenging issues and unlock new value. The lab will align its work with Singapore's AI Mission priorities, particularly in public service, finance, healthcare, and digital infrastructure. Furthermore, OpenAI for Singapore will collaborate with government and local partners to build AI skills through initiatives like AI-enabled learning tools, educator support programs, and training for local AI deployment talent. The partnership also aims to ensure AI benefits reach all levels of the economy by supporting AI-native startups and providing workshops for small businesses, ultimately fostering a long-term collaboration to build an AI-ready economy in Singapore.
