You can now remix other people’s YouTube Shorts with AI

Google has launched a new "reimagine" feature for YouTube Shorts that utilizes Gemini Omni technology to allow users to remix existing content. By selecting the remix icon, creators can prompt the AI to transform video styles into formats like anime or pixel art, or manipulate elements by adding background actors, altering costumes, or inserting themselves into the clip.

To ensure creator control, YouTube allows uploaders to disable the reimagine feature for their specific videos, protecting content from unwanted manipulation. Additionally, to maintain transparency, Google confirmed that all AI-remixed Shorts will include a digital watermark and provide a direct link back to the original source material.
