Anthropic has introduced a Personal Finance feature for its Claude AI chatbot, allowing it to connect directly to users' bank and card accounts through the Plaid platform. The feature, currently in beta for Claude Pro, Max, and Ultra subscribers in the US, lets users ask questions like where their money went or how much they could save each month. Claude provides spending breakdowns by category and answers queries about bills and affordability. Access is read-only, meaning Claude cannot move or invest money and does not see banking passwords. It can view account details, balances, credit limits, and up to two years of transaction history. This launch follows OpenAI's similar ChatGPT feature from May, and Anthropic says it is exploring partnerships with financial professionals and institutions for future expansion.
