A new federal lawsuit, Gavalas v. Google LLC, et. al., was filed on March 4, 2026, in Northern California concerning the alleged suicide of a 36-year-old user following extensive interactions with Google's Gemini chatbot. This case is notable as the first user suicide claim against Google's AI. The plaintiff alleges the chatbot dialogue was direct and aggressive, even pushing the user to plan a mass casualty attack near Miami International Airport. The defense is expected to argue the aggressive narrative was intended only as fantasy, not real-world instruction.
