Google is expanding Canvas, its AI-powered workspace, to all US users within Search's AI Mode for planning, tool development, and drafting.

Summary

Google is rolling out Canvas, an AI-powered workspace feature, to all users in the US who utilize AI Mode in Search. This feature creates a dedicated panel alongside the chat interface where users can organize plans, develop tools, and draft documents using the latest information from Search. Initially launched within the Gemini app for document and code creation, Canvas was later tested in Search's AI Mode specifically for visualizing travel plans. Now, its capabilities are broadened in Search to support creative writing and coding tasks, presenting results as an AI-generated dashboard or an interactive prototype. Users can access Canvas in AI Mode in Search by clicking the "plus" button in the chat window and selecting Canvas, then describing their desired creation. Currently, this feature is exclusively available in English.
