Expanding Chrome’s AI experiences to India, New Zealand and Canada

Google is rolling out its latest AI features, powered by Gemini 3.1, to users in India, New Zealand, and Canada, initially on desktop and iOS, with Android support coming via power button activation. Key features include Gemini in Chrome, which allows users to chat with an AI assistant without leaving their current tab to summarize content, answer questions, or generate creative text. The AI also integrates deeply with Google apps like Gmail, Maps, Calendar, and YouTube, enabling tasks such as drafting emails or viewing video key points directly in the browser side panel. Furthermore, Gemini can work across multiple open tabs to consolidate research for tasks like planning or comparison shopping. The update also introduces Nano Banana 2 for on-the-fly image transformation within the browser. Google emphasizes that these features were built with security in mind, incorporating training to recognize threats like prompt injection and requiring confirmation for sensitive actions.
