Summary
Microsoft is expanding the availability of its Copilot AI assistant to current-generation Xbox consoles later this year. Revealed by Sonali Yadav, Xbox’s product manager for gaming AI, at the Game Developers Conference (GDC), the assistant will also be integrated into “more services that players are playing.” Copilot, currently in beta on the Xbox mobile app, Windows 11, and Xbox Ally, allows players to use voice commands to receive assistance when stuck in games, offering suggestions, answering questions about gaming history, and providing tips or recommendations. Examples include asking for help defeating a boss or finding crafting materials in Minecraft. The announcement comes amidst leadership changes at Microsoft Gaming, with Asha Sharma recently taking over as CEO from Phil Spencer.
