Nomadic raises $8.4 million to wrangle the data pouring off autonomous vehicles

Nomadic AI, founded by CEO Mustafa Bal and CTO Varun Krishnan, has raised an $8.4 million seed round to address the massive challenge of organizing and cataloging video data generated by autonomous vehicles and robots for training and evaluation. The company's platform uses vision language models to turn raw footage into a structured, searchable dataset, enabling customers to efficiently find critical edge cases—rare events that often confuse AI models—for compliance and direct integration into reinforcement learning pipelines. Led by TQ Ventures, the funding will support customer onboarding and platform refinement. Existing customers include Zoox and Zendar, who praise the tool for accelerating development beyond manual labeling or outsourcing. Nomadic positions itself as an "agentic reasoning system" focused on this specific infrastructure, allowing AV companies to concentrate on their core robotics.
