From teen hacker to Iron Dome researcher, this founder raised $28M to fight AI phishing

Shay Shwartz, a former teenage hacker turned cybersecurity expert, has launched an agentic email security startup called Ocean. Having previously worked on Israel’s Iron Dome project and at Axis, Shwartz created Ocean to combat the growing threat of AI-driven phishing attacks, which can now be automated at scale. The company recently emerged from stealth mode with $28 million in funding from investors including Lightspeed Venture Partners. Ocean uses a specialized small language model to analyze email context and sender intent, providing security for organizations like Kayak and Headspace.
