Substack adds an AI detector to help spot blogs written by no one

Substack is rolling out a new AI detection tool to help users determine whether content on the platform was written by artificial intelligence. Powered by an AI detection company called Pangram, the tool scans posts, notes, and comments to estimate the presence of AI-generated text. Readers can access this feature through the post menu, while creators can use it on their drafts and add a "How I make this" statement to explain their writing process. According to Substack CEO Chris Best, the integration aims to combat "Claudefishing"—situations where readers unknowingly invest attention in content lacking human thought—and protect trust in human authorship amidst the rising prevalence of generative AI.
