Improving Fable 5 Safeguards

Anthropic has introduced updates to Fable 5's biology safeguards to substantially reduce false positives, cutting related fallbacks by approximately 85%. This update enables the model to assist with a wider range of tasks, such as interpreting lab results, understanding symptoms, and supporting healthcare professionals, while still maintaining strict barriers against dual-use risks like biological weapons development. Initially launched with very broad restrictions to prevent catastrophic misuse, the model's safety classifiers have been refined through updated constitutions and expert feedback to better distinguish between benign and harmful queries.
