Amazon doesn’t trust Meta’s Muse AI agent

Amazon has blocked Meta's Muse AI agent from accessing its shopping platform. The action was taken because Meta did not notify Amazon of Muse's intended access, and Amazon has significant privacy and security concerns. Specifically, Amazon found that Muse failed to identify itself during browsing and appeared to capture customer credentials, violating Amazon's Conditions of Use. Amazon stated that third-party applications making purchases on behalf of customers must operate openly and respect the service provider's participation decisions. This move is part of Amazon's broader strategy to fend off competition from rival AI services, similar to its previous lawsuit against Perplexity over its Comet shopping feature. Additionally, Amazon has been limiting information in its confirmation emails to prevent external AI services from mining product data.
