Spotify says it won’t recommend music from ‘AI Personas’

Spotify has announced plans to implement "AI Persona" badges for artist profiles that do not represent real people, starting in mid-September. The platform will use both self-disclosure and a combination of human review and AI tools to identify photorealistic AI-generated identities, prioritizing artists who meet defined audience thresholds. Music from these AI personas will be excluded from editorial suggestions and personal recommendations by default, as listener feedback indicated dissatisfaction with disguised AI profiles. The new labeling policy applies specifically to the artist's identity rather than their production methods, and affected artists will have the ability to appeal the badge.
