Amazon’s AI assistant can now spot fake emails from the company

Amazon introduced a new AI verification feature in Alexa for Shopping that lets users ask whether an email, text message, or phone call truly comes from the company. The assistant compares the message against a record of every message Amazon has sent and analyzes its contents, formatting, and the sender, confirming authenticity only when it’s “completely certain.” For example, a user can ask if an OTP text is genuine, and Alexa will confirm it.

If Alexa for Shopping determines a message isn’t from Amazon, it directs customers to check their orders in the app and contact Amazon’s support team directly. Amazon also offers a previous verification method via forwarding to [email protected], and recent updates include an “Update Me When” feature for tracking new product releases. The tool aims to combat impersonation scams.
