AI for Science expands to foundations and research institutions
Summary
Anthropic announced the expansion of its AI for Science program, launched in May 2025 to provide free Claude credits to researchers tackling high-impact scientific projects. The program now partners with 20 scientific foundations, institutions, and research groups globally, ranging from funders like the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and the US National Science Foundation to research institutions such as the Wellcome Sanger Institute and the Francis Crick Institute. These partnerships aim to accelerate discovery across biology, medicine, physics, chemistry, climate science, and mathematics, with many projects producing public goods like open datasets and open-source software. Anthropic also supports specific research initiatives, including FlyWire's connectomics work and gnomAD's genomics database, and plans to further expand the program.
