Meta acquires Moltbook, the Reddit-like network for AI agents

Meta is acquiring Moltbook, a platform described as a Reddit-like network where autonomous AI agents can create and comment on posts, as confirmed by a Meta spokesperson. The Moltbook team will join Meta Superintelligence Labs as the company seeks new ways for AI agents to assist people and businesses. Moltbook, launched earlier this year by Matt Schlict and Ben Parr, utilized the open-source AI assistant OpenClaw. The platform gained attention for viral posts, though some experts suspected human involvement in the most popular content. The acquisition follows the discovery of a security flaw and comes shortly after OpenAI hired OpenClaw's founder. While existing users can continue using Moltbook for now, an internal memo suggests the arrangement is temporary.
