One of Grammarly’s ‘experts’ is suing the company over its identity-stealing AI feature

Journalist Julia Angwin has filed a class-action lawsuit against Grammarly, alleging the company violated privacy and publicity rights by using her identity, among others, in its "Expert Review" AI editing feature without permission for commercial purposes. Angwin discovered her inclusion after Casey Newton, another featured expert, brought it to light; several current Verge staff members were also found to be included. Following the controversy, Superhuman announced it is disabling the feature, with CEO Shishir Mehrotra apologizing for falling short and promising to rethink their approach.
