Gemini’s task automation is here and it’s wild

Google and Samsung announced a new Gemini feature enabling task automation within apps like food delivery and rideshare services, which has now arrived in beta on the S26 Ultra. This feature allows Gemini to operate within a virtual window to perform actions, such as ordering an Uber or coffee, based on simple user prompts. The reviewer tested ordering an Uber to the airport, which required Gemini to ask for clarification before proceeding to the final confirmation step, where the user must approve the request. A more complex task, ordering a coffee and croissant from Starbucks, also succeeded, with Gemini correctly navigating menu options and making a judgment call on warming the pastry. Users can watch Gemini execute the steps, take control, or stop the automation at any point, marking an impressive step forward for AI assistants.
