Fender CEO Edward “Bud” Cole faced severe backlash from the guitar community following resurfaced comments where he compared playing cover songs and collaborating with bandmates to "analog AI." During an interview celebrating the Telecaster's 75th anniversary, Cole suggested that learning other artists' songs or working with a drummer and bassist is akin to how artificial intelligence ingests data and generates content.
