Ford is giving its commercial fleet business an AI makeover

Ford has announced Ford Pro AI, a new AI-powered service for its commercial fleet and telematics software customers. This generative AI system analyzes data from commercial vehicles – including speed, seat belt use, and engine health – and converts it into actionable insights for fleet managers. The system is implemented as an AI chatbot within Ford’s Telematics software, allowing managers to ask questions and delegate tasks, such as getting recommendations to lower fuel costs or drafting summary emails. Ford emphasizes that the system uses “accurate, manufacturer-grade vehicle data” to minimize AI hallucinations and is built on Google Cloud infrastructure. While the specific large language model isn't disclosed, Ford Pro AI is designed to augment, not replace, human fleet managers by automating data processing and reducing operational burdens. The service is currently included in existing Ford Pro telematics subscriptions and works with vehicles from any manufacturer.
