X relaunches a rebuilt Android app after year-long effort

X has officially launched a redesigned Android application following a year-long development cycle. The company rebuilt the app from the ground up using a Kotlin and Jetpack Compose stack, aiming to address long-standing performance issues, such as slow loading and notification errors. According to X head of product Nikita Bier, this overhaul represents one of the largest engineering projects in the company's history, enabling the team to ship new features more efficiently. While the app is now significantly faster and more stable, X continues to work on optimizing performance for older devices and adding support for features like Spaces and advanced video tools.
