This legal action follows a previous attempt by Sony to include these specific tracks in an earlier, broader lawsuit involving Universal Music Group and Warner Records, which was initially rejected by a judge. Sony seeks to stop the copyright infringement and is pursuing damages of up to $150,000 per infringed work, asserting that Udio ingested these recordings to train its generative AI models.
