Fully autonomous drones have killed human soldiers for the first time

A senior figure in the Ukrainian defense industry, Alexander Kokhanovskyy, reported that a test involving AI-controlled 'Terminator' drones resulted in the first instance of fully autonomous weapons killing soldiers on the battlefield. The test, conducted two years ago, involved quadcopters that operated without human oversight or connectivity, confirming the death of enemy infantry. While the use of AI in targeting is increasingly common globally, most military doctrines still require a human in the loop to prevent errors and ensure compliance with international humanitarian laws, which many experts and officials argue should strictly prohibit such autonomous lethality.
